Allegiant Air is restoring seasonal service to Honolulu from six of the seven mainland cities it removed from its schedule in August.
The Las Vegas-based carrier, which primarily connects secondary cities to leisure destinations, will reinstate service in June from four of the dropped cities. Allegiant will fly twice weekly from Phoenix and the California cities of Fresno and Stockton. Eugene, Ore., service will be once a week.
Allegiant restored weekly flights from Boise, Idaho, and Spokane, Wash., in December.
Allegiant didn’t bring back its weekly flight between Santa Maria, Calif., and Honolulu.
"Hawaii is turning out to be a little bit more seasonal than originally anticipated," Allegiant spokeswoman Jessica Wheeler said earlier this week. "We don’t always announce schedule changes. We tweak our schedule all the time."
Allegiant is now flying to Hawaii from nine cities, including Bellingham, Wash., which flies twice a week to both Kahului and Honolulu. Allegiant also expanded its twice-a-week Los Angeles-Honolulu service, which began in October, to six days a week from June through mid-August. In addition, Allegiant is flying two to three times a week to Honolulu from its home base in Las Vegas.
Allegiant entered the Hawaii market in June 2012 with service from Las Vegas and Fresno, Calif.
One additional city, Monterey, Calif., had its service canceled by Allegiant before it started.
