Hawaii flags to fly half-staff for 2 days for Rep. Carroll
The governor is ordering that flags in Hawaii be flown at half-staff to honor former state Rep. Diana “Mele” Carroll.
United States and Hawaii flags will fly at half-staff on Friday, the day of her Oahu funeral service. The flags will fly again at half-staff on Sunday, March 15, which is when her Maui service will be held.
Carroll died of cancer on Feb. 18. She was 50 years old.
She served in the state House of Representatives since 2005. She served Kahoolawe, Lanai, Molokai and part of Maui. She resigned on Feb. 1 due to complications from cancer treatment.
Gov. David Ige calls her a pillar in Maui County who will be missed.
