Windward Mall will get new ramen eatery
Japanese-based Manichi Group will open Ramen Man-Ichi at Windward Mall’s Paina Food Court in June.
The noodle shop will be the company’s first Ramen Man-Ichi concept and its second U.S. operation since opening inside Shirokiya at Ala Moana Center.
Ramen Man-Ichi will offer the group’s popular pork-based ramen, its signature shoyu ramen and miso ramen, and a new dish called the Man-Ichi Special which features four flavors in one bowl. Popular rice dishes and gyoza also will be on the menu, according to a statement. The shop will open in what mall officials call a new space close to Dairy Queen.
Manichi Group was established in Japan in 1953 and operates 22 restaurants throughout Asia.

USS Missouri Association marks 20 years
The USS Missouri Memorial Association, the nonprofit organization responsible for bringing the retired USS Missouri to Pearl Harbor and establishing the Battleship Missouri Memorial, will celebrate its 20th anniversary Sunday and will offer special admission rates Saturday through March 31. General admission is normally $25 per adult and $13 per child (4 to 12).
The association was founded March 16, 1994, with the objective of having the USS Missouri, the battleship where World War II ended, berthed bow to bow to the sunken USS Arizona, the battleship signifying the war’s onset for the U.S. The Mighty Mo was towed into Pearl Harbor on June 22, 1998.
