Warriors win in San Diego tournament
Kamehameha-Hawaii won the 14th annual Beach City Invitational high school boys volleyball tournament hosted by La Jolla High School on Friday and Saturday.
Forty-five teams from California, Nevada, Arizona and Hawaii participated in the two-day tournament. The Warriors won their pool by going 3-0 on Friday and claimed a spot in Saturday’s 16-team playoffs. They then won three playoff matches before defeating Torrey Pines in straight sets to claim the championship trophy.
Kamehameha-Hawaii comes to Oahu for this week’s Hawaii Boys Volleyball Invitational, hosted by ‘Iolani School.
Vulcans drop doubleheader on diamond
Dixie State took a Pacific West Conference softball doubleheader from Hawaii Hilo on Sunday in St. George, Utah, by scores of 6-0 and 5-3.
In the first game, the No. 25 Red Storm pounded out 10 hits. In the second game, Dixie State started strong with a four-run second inning. UHH dropped to 15-13 overall and 10-9 in the conference. Dixie State improved to 27-8 and 15-5.
