The museum announced Thursday that the 85-foot plaster skeleton of a diplodocus, a dinosaur that inhabited North America 150 million years ago, will be replaced in the main hall by the skeleton of a blue whale.

Hudgens heads cast of ‘Gigi’

WASHINGTON » The Broadway-bound musical revival "Gigi" has opened at the Kennedy Center and stars Vanessa Hudgens, who will make her Broadway debut. The new production runs through Feb. 12 in Washington.

"Gigi" is set in Paris at the turn of the last century. The musical comes from Alan Jay Lerner and Frederick Loewe, the same composer and lyricist as "My Fair Lady." It centers on a teenage girl being groomed to serve as a companion to a bored, wealthy playboy until they realize they’ve fallen in love.

Hudgens is best known for starring in Disney’s "High School Musical" movies. She’s joined by Tony Award-winning actress Victoria Clark; Dee Hoty; Corey Cott, from "Newsies"; and Howard McGillin, a longtime title character in "The Phantom of the Opera."
