What’s a city without some hotels?
Pay attention now: Not one, not two, but three new hotels are planned for Oahu, and they’re not in the usual districts of Waikiki, or even Ko Olina.
No, these "limited-service" hotels are to be embedded in regular-folk neighborhoods in West Oahu. Just announced is the 180-room Embassy Suites hotel in Kapolei, part of a new 40-acre masterplanned senior-living community called Leihano. First-phase construction is already underway, on an 84-unit rental senior apartment called ‘Ilima at Leihano.
The other two upcoming west-end hotels are a 175-unit Hampton Inn & Suites planned for the new Ka Makana Ali‘i shopping center in East Kapolei, with construction to start around summer; and a 150-room business hotel next to the Kapolei state Judiciary complex.
Looks like Oahu’s "Second City" is just about here.
