Visitors to the Kapiolani Community College Farmers’ Market on Saturday paused in front of a memorial set up for Annie Runland, the 27-year-old University of Hawaii student killed last weekend in an accident at the market. MA‘O Organic Farms, which normally uses the space, did not attend the market, instead leaving a message offering its condolences

Pete Thompson, whose wife owns Licious Dishes, worked in his stall next to the memorial. Annie Runland was working for Licious Dishes when she was hit by a truck, which also hit Thompson. He still suffers from a sore back after the accident.
