University of Hawaii football season-ticket prices will remain largely the same for the 2015 season, although the cost of some end-zone locations will change, officials said.
Prices will be lowered in a portion of the seats in the south end zone, while all the seats in the north end zone will be increased.
The realignment comes as UH sends out renewal notices aimed at retaining the owners of last year’s 17,223 season tickets.
The number was the smallest in more than 30 years, and officials said they are making that retention a key focus of this year’s drive.
Tickets in the south end zone brown section will drop by $50 to $202, including premiums, and affect 325 seats. All others in the south end zone will remain the same.
The north end zone remains the lowest-priced area, but prices will rise $5-$24 based upon location and affect approximately 3,300.
Athletic director Ben Jay said the changes in the seven-game package were made to bring prices in the two end zones more in line with each other.
"The north end zone is still the most affordable," Jay said.
UH is offering season-ticket holders a 10 percent discount on Under Armour products at H-Zone stores, a 50 percent ticket discount to select other UH sporting events and the $99 road pay-per-view package with Oceanic Time Warner Cable.
Sales of new season tickets will begin June 8.
UH’s stance comes as some mid-majors, including San Diego State, have announced plans to raise prices to help underwrite the coming cost of attendance supplements to scholarship athletes.
The NCAA has said that schools may begin providing the stipends beginning Aug. 1, if they choose.
Some other schools, including Purdue, report dropping the prices on nearly 90 percent of their seats in an effort to combat declining attendance.
Jay said that was not an option for UH, which is projecting a $3.5 million deficit this fiscal year.
