HPU beats Chaminade in women’s hoops
All-Pacific West Conference forward Morganne Comstock scored 19 points and grabbed 11 rebounds as Hawaii Pacific defeated Chaminade 86-47 in women’s basketball on Sunday afternoon at Blaisdell Arena.
The win moved first-place Hawaii Pacific to 18-4 overall, 13-2 in conference play, just a half-game ahead of California Baptist. Lilia Maio led Chaminade (5-13, 5-9) with 16 points and six rebounds.
Shastri shoots Chaminade men to win
Kiran Shastri knocked down four 3-pointers en route to a game-high 19 points as Chaminade blew out Hawaii Pacific 83-57 on Sunday afternoon at Blaisdell Arena.
Oscar Pedroso scored 17 points and James Harper 12 points for Chaminade (9-11, 6-8) in the victory.
In the loss, Darry Jones Jr. and Luke Hager each put in 12 points for Hawaii Pacific (13-8, 8-7)
Gymnast Amano wins in Houston
Maia Amano won the level 10 gymnastics championships at the Houston National Invitational on Saturday in Houston.
Competing in the 10-12 age group, the 11-year-old Amano took first in the double-mini trampoline and placed fifth in the individual trampoline. Amano attends St. Andrew’s Priory and was in her first meet as a level 10 gymnast.
She will compete in Holland next month at the Flower Cup.
