Motorcyclist swerves to avoid car, crashes into guardrail
A 50-year-old Kaneohe man was critically injured in a motorcycle crash Wednesday afternoon near the Waiahole Poi Factory.
Lt. Robert Towne said the man told police he was Kahuku-bound on Kamehameha Highway about 2:30 p.m. when a car heading in the opposite direction crossed the solid center line and caused him to lose control of the motorcycle and slide into the guardrail. The car left the scene, police said.
A passerby s picked the motorcyclist up and drove him to the Castle Medical Center, Towne said.
The man was in critical condition, but was able to talk to police, Towne said. He suffered head and internal injuries, police said.
