3 foreigners shot in central Philippines: 1 German dead
MANILA » Police say Filipino assailants fatally shot a 31-year-old German and wounded a Frenchman and an Indian inside a restaurant in Talisay City in the central Philippines.
Police chief Reycel Carmelo Dayon said the pre-dawn shooting Friday inside a McDonald’s restaurant followed a heated argument between two unidentified Filipino men and Indian Cheten Saparaiya and his friend Julian Millard, a Frenchman. The two foreigners are residents married to Filipino women.
German Henry Haffner was outside with his Filipino girlfriend when the assailants returned with other men. This time three of them were armed.
Cheten and Millard stepped out but ran back inside when the men started shooting. Haffner rushed inside to take cover but was also shot. He died on arrival at a hospital.
