Man arrested on weapons count
Police arrested a man who allegedly walked through the Highlands Intermediate School campus about 11:05 a.m. Tuesday while carrying a shuriken-style metal throwing weapon.
The Pearl City man, 52, was about one-tenth of a mile from the scene and arrested on suspicion of possessing illegal narcotics and possessing a deadly weapon.
Teller fingers forgery suspect
A forgery suspect was arrested Wednesday afternoon after an alert bank teller recognized the man from previous encounters at the Pearl City Shopping Center institution
Police said the man, 21, attempted to cash a forged check about 3:20 p.m. at the Kamehameha Highway bank. But the teller recognized the suspect and also knew the account that the check was drawn on had already been closed because checks had been stolen, police said. The teller checked with the complainant, a 67-year-old woman, who confirmed that the account had been closed.
Police were alerted and the man was arrested on counts of second-degree forgery, second-degree theft and unauthorized possession of the check.
Punch breaks boy’s nose
Police are investigating a complaint by a 14-year-old Waianae boy who said another 14-year-old boy punched him in the face Monday afternoon, breaking his nose.
The incident occurred Monday afternoon when the victim said he was walking by the suspect when he was struck for no apparent reason. The suspect was located Tuesday, identified and arrested on suspicion of second-degree assault.
