FLAG-J has fun with trendy shoes
Shibuya style has arrived at Ala Moana Center with the opening of FLAG-J, offering trendy shoes and accessories geared toward women 18 to 35.
Current fall and winter styles include ultrasuede and knit boots at about $129. Also available are a range of fun, ornamented slippers, ballerina flats, kitten pumps and sexy platforms.
Parent company Akakura has been in business in Japan for 60 years, and the opening of the boutique marks its first foray abroad.
An Akakura boutique, with more serious footwear, is slated to open in April in Waikiki.
Diamonds on display at N.M. trunk show
Neiman Marcus will be hosting a diamond trunk show featuring award-winning designs by Maria Canale for Forevermark, carried in the store’s Precious Jewels Salon. Meet the designer between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. Jan. 3 and 4.
Sedona turns 24 with discount offer
Sedona is marking its 24th anniversary with a post-Christmas sale continuing through New Year’s Day.
Those who make purchases of $80 or more will receive a 24 percent discount. Some restrictions apply.

Bag some bargains at New Year’s event
Ala Moana and Royal Hawaiian centers will welcome the Japanese retail tradition of fukubukuro on New Year’s Day.
Merchants will sell fukubukuro, or "lucky bags" full of mystery products discounted 50 percent or more. The bag’s contents are revealed after purchase.

Select restaurants will offer a limited number of gift cards of $20 to $50 at up to 50 percent off.
Red balloons will mark the entrance of participating shops and restaurants.

The center offers an hour of free parking with validation and charges $1 per hour for the next three hours. After four hours, a standard rate of $6 per hour applies. Special-event parking validation is $5.
