Firefighter charged with trying to run down 3 people in Waikiki
A 34-year-old Honolulu firefighter was charged Friday with allegedly trying to run down three people near his home with a vehicle.
Initially, the city prosecutor’s office said Carlin Jones, of Waikiki, was charged with three counts of second-degree attempted murder, three counts of first-degree terroristic threatening, three counts of second-degree terroristic threatening, and one each of impersonating a law enforcement officer and endangering the welfare of a minor.
His bail was set at $25,000.
However, Dave Koga, spokesman for Prosecutor Keith Kaneshiro, later said Jones will only face the three counts of first-degree terroristic threatening when he makes his initial appearance in District Court on March 27.
Koga said three counts of second-degree terroristic threatening and a charge of second-degree impersonating a police officer are pending further investigation.
The only charge that was dropped was a second-degree charge of endangering the welfare of a minor.
