8 Mililani Ike students treated for nausea from possible chemical odor
Emergency Medical Services responded to a report of a chemical odor at Mililani Ike Elementary School Monday afternoon.
EMS treated eight patients at about 1:20p.m. Six students, girls and boys 9 and 10 years old, were taken to an area hospital.
However, two of the student’s guardians refused transport to the hospital for the children.
All the patients were in stable condition, but complained of a variety of symptoms, including headaches and nausea possibly from a chemical odor.
A Honolulu Fire Department hazardous materials team responded to a 1:16 p.m. call and arrived at the school at 1:22 p.m. The hazmat personnel, using air monitoring devices, were unable to detect any hazardous gas.
