Hawaii Pacific women rout Argonauts
The Hawaii Pacific women’s basketball team won its second conference game with an 84-58 win over Notre Dame de Namur on Monday at Blaisdell Arena.
Four Sea Warriors scored in double figures — Ieva Nagy (17), Melody Ladrido (14), Susannah Walmsley (12), and Shianne Solomon (10). HPU (6-3, 2-1) hit 10 of 26 3-point attempts, while the Argonauts (1-12, 0-5) struggled from behind the arc, going 1-for-12.
NDNU’s Trisha Malaspina scored a game-high 19 points in the losing effort.
>> In the men’s game between the two schools, Micah Dunhour and Wesley White scored 13 points apiece for Notre Dame de Namur in a 61-58 win at McCabe Gym.
White also had 10 rebounds for the Argonauts (4-9, 3-2)
Dunhour is an Academy of the Pacific alumnus. Marko Cukic scored 15 points to lead Hawaii Pacific (4-6, 1-2).
Hawaii Hilo takes down Holy Names
Kirsten Shimizu finished with 23 points to lead Hawaii Hilo’s women’s basketball team to a 77-68 win over Holy Names on Monday in Hilo.
Junior Kamie Imai added 18 points and nine rebounds for the Vulcans (5-6, 2-3).
Dominique Williams finished with 13 points and 13 rebounds for the visiting Hawks (7-6, 2-3).
>> The Hawaii Hilo men’s basketball team won its first conference game of the season in a 91-86 overtime thriller against Holy Names on Monday in Hilo.
The Vulcans led by 17 points at the half, but a huge rally by the Hawks pushed the game into overtime at 76-all.
UHH’s CJ Brown scored nine of the team’s 15 points in overtime, and finished with 21 points for the night. Kiel Myers added 24 points for the Vulcans (3-10, 1-4).
Tyler Fry scored a game-high 24 points with 11 rebounds for the Hawks (0-5, 3-9).
Chaminade men drop Dominican
De’Andre Haskins scored 20 points to lead Chaminade to a 74-70 men’s basketball victory over Dominican (Calif.) on Monday at McCabe Gym.
Tyree Harrison pulled in 12 rebounds for the Silverswords (5-7, 2-2).
Devin Golston scored 17 points for the Penguins (7-5, 3-1).

Julia Brew racked up 21 points and seven rebounds for the Penguins (4-8, 2-2).
The Silverswords (1-8, 1-3) struggled with 24 turnovers in the first half, and finished with 40 for the night. Sophomore Hanna Curtis led Chaminade with 15 points and six rebounds.
BYUH upends Academy of Art
Okesene Ale scored 21 points to power Brigham Young-Hawaii to a 107-70 men’s basketball drubbing of Academy of Art on Monday at Cannon Activities Center.
Pablo Coro added 17 points for the Seasiders (7-5, 4-0).
Ameer Shamsud-din led the way for the Urban Knights
(3-8, 1-3) with 19 points.
BYUH’s Medlock wins weekly honor
Brigham Young-Hawaii junior center DeAndre Medlock was named the PacWest player of the week in men’s basketball after leading the Seasiders to two conference wins last week. Medlock led the PacWest in scoring with 52 points, shooting 73.5 percent from the floor (25-for-34) with nine rebounds and six assists.
Men’s honor roll
Marko Cukic, HPU: The senior center helped the Sea Warriors go 2-0 by averaging 17.5 points and shooting 77.3 percent from the floor (17-for-22).
Bracken Funk, BYUH: The junior forward scored 29 points with 22 rebounds, 10 assists and four steals in the Seasiders’ two victories.
De’Andre Haskins, CU: The senior guard scored 22 points with three rebounds, four steals and three assists in the Silverswords’ lone game of the week, a win over Holy Names. He also went 8-for-8 from the free-throw line.
Bennie Murray, CU: The senior guard had 18 points, three assists, three steals, three rebounds and two blocks in the win over Holy Names.
Kiel Myers, UHH: The senior forward scored 32 points with 12 rebounds as the Vulcans went 0-2.
Jelany White, HPU: The junior guard helped the Sea Warriors go 2-0, scoring 24 points with 14 assists and four 3-pointers.

Kirsty Imai, UHH: The senior guard out of Waiakea scored 31 points with eight assists as the Vulcans went 1-1.
Rhani Kaneaiakala, CU: The senior guard out of Kamehameha averaged 12.3 points and three blocks with 30 rebounds in a 1-2 week for the Silverswords.
Brydgette Tatupu-Leopoldo, BYUH: The sophomore guard out of Farrington scored 28 points with seven assists, going 15-for-17 from the line as the Seasiders went 1-1.
Shayla Washington, BYUH: The senior averaged 29.5 points and 13 rebounds.
