Hawaiian Airlines continued its dominance among U.S. carriers and led the nation in on-time performance in 2013 for the 10th year in a row.

The state’s largest airline had an average 93.3 percent of its flights arrive within 15 minutes of their scheduled time, according to data released Monday by the U.S. Department of Transportation. Hawaiian topped the rankings in 11 of the 12 months and exceeded the industry average for the year by 15 percentage points.

For December, Hawaiian was first in on-time performance at 92.4 percent.

“For a decade, Hawaiian Airlines has led the industry in operating flights on time,” Hawaiian President and CEO Mark Dunkerley said. “It is the element of performance that customers rate as the most important. The credit belongs to our employees who show dedication and passion for what they do.”

In other December categories, Hawaiian ranked first for fewest cancellations at 0.2 percent, or 11 out of 6,032 total flights; second for fewest mishandled baggage reports with 2.26 per 1,000 passengers; and sixth for fewest consumer complaints at 0.61 per 100,000 passengers.

And in the quarterly oversales category, Hawaii had the third fewest number of passengers involuntarily denied boardings in the fourth quarter at 0.18 per 10,000 passengers.
