University of Oregon student ill with meningitis bacteria
EUGENE, Ore. >> A University of Oregon student is in a hospital with a bacterial infection that causes meningitis.
KVAL reports the woman was taken to the hospital last week with the potentially life-threatening infection in her bloodstream, meningococcemia.
The University of Oregon has notified students who had a class with the woman and Lane County Public Health is alerting about 800 people who may have had contact with her.
If they have an unexplained fever, headache or neck pain, they are advised to seek medical attention immediately.
