2 adults, 1 child dead in apparent Minnesota murder-suicide

APPLE VALLEY, Minn. » Two adults and one child were found dead in an Apple Valley home in what police characterized Sunday as an apparent murder-suicide, but it’s unclear how long the three people had been dead.

The Star Tribune reported that police responded to a home in the St. Paul suburb on Saturday after a neighbor called about bodies inside. Authorities arrived to find three people dead, but police said they didn’t know how long the bodies had been inside the home.

On Sunday, police released a statement saying a child was among the deceased. But authorities didn’t release any ages or details.

Collin Prochnow, the neighbor who called police, told the Star Tribune that a couple lived at the home with their 5-year-old daughter. He says the last time he saw the family was before Christmas.

Prochnow said he went to the house Saturday to pick up packages that were sitting on the front steps. He said he looked inside and saw the bodies.

The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension and the Dakota County Sheriff’s Office were assisting in the investigation.
