Mayor Caldwell goes to D.C. for meetings on rail, other issues
Honolulu Mayor Kirk Caldwell is headed to Washington, D.C., for meetings and events.
Caldwell departs Honolulu on Monday night.
His office says Caldwell will attend the United States Conference of Mayors’ annual winter meeting Wednesday through Friday.
He will attend the Mayors Innovation Project annual winter meeting from Friday through Saturday. At the meeting, he’s expected to discuss sustainable street design, integrating climate resilience into city decisions and other topics.
The mayor is scheduled to meet with officials from the Federal Transit Administration about Honolulu’s rail transit project. He will also meet with the U.S. Veterans Administration to discuss homelessness.
Caldwell will attend President Barack Obama’s State of the Union address as a guest of U.S. Sen. Mazie Hirono.
