Driver dies after vehicle hits parked cars
A 54-year-old Mililani man died Saturday morning after crashing a vehicle into several parked cars and injuring a woman inside one of the vehicles in Wahiawa.
Excessive speed appears to be a factor in the crash, police said.
At about 12:55 a.m., the Mililani man lost control while speeding and hit four parked vehicles on Wilikina Drive near McCornack Road, police said.
He was ejected when his vehicle overturned. The man was taken to the hospital in critical condition and later died.
One of the parked vehicles had two people inside, a 26-year-old Waianae woman and a 21-year-old Wahiawa man.
The woman was taken to the hospital in good condition, and the younger man was not hurt.
This was the eighth traffic fatality on Oahu this year.
Man in fatal motorcycle crash is identified
The Honolulu medical examiner’s office identified a Honolulu man who died from his injuries in a Punchbowl area motorcycle crash last week as Douglas A. Farias Sr.
Farias, 55, died of multiple blunt force injuries, and the manner of his death was ruled an accident, the office said.
Police said Farias was heading south on Emerson Street when his motorcycle struck a car going west on Green Street at about 8:30 a.m. Tuesday.
Farias, who was wearing a helmet, was taken to a hospital in critical condition and died Thursday.
Police said speed on the part of Farias may have been a factor in the crash.
