Hawaii runs past UC Davis
Christian Standhardinger poured in 29 points as Hawaii beat UC Davis 86-77 in a Big West Conference basketball Saturday at the Stan Sheriff Center.
UH improved to 8-5 in the league and 19-8 overall. The Aggies fell to 3-9 and 8-19.
Hawaii won its sixth Saturday night game in a row, but remained in fourth place in the conference, 1 1/2 games behind co-leaders UC Irvine and UC Santa Barbara.
Corey Hawkins — who had 40 points when visiting Davis beat Hawaii last year — scored 29 this time.
Davis took its final lead when Hawkins hit a runner to make it 12-11 with 15:34 to go in the first half. Hawaii scored the next nine points, with Standhardinger scoring four of his first-half 17. He also had six rebounds before the break.
The Rainbow Warriors maintained a double-digit lead the entire second half until Darius Graham hit a 3-pointer with 1:17 left, making the score 80-71. Ryan Sypkens hit a trey with 45 seconds left, but then Brandon Spearman scored on a dunk for the final score.

Hawkins scored 14 in the first half but had little help, while Isaac Fotu scored 12 of his 18 for UH.
The Rainbow Warriors came out of their shooting slump, hitting 15 of 26 from the floor in the first half, including 4 of 6 3-pointers.
UH shot 57 percent from the floor for the game, with Standhardinger hitting 10 of 15. He also made 9 of 12 free throws.
