Vulcans finish 15th, Warriors 16th
The Hawaii Hilo men’s golf team finished in 15th place and Hawaii placed 16th at the Ameri Ari Invitational on Saturday at the Waikoloa Kings’ Course.
Oklahoma State won with a three-round team total of 819, 12 strokes ahead of Washington. Jordan Niebrugge of Oklahoma State took individual honors at 16-under 200. Jeffrey Kang of Southern California was a stroke back. Kyeton Littel finished at 4-under 212 to lead Hilo (857).
Skye Inakoshi finished at 2-under 214 to lead Hawaii (864).
Hawaii tennis team falls at San Diego
Idil Haciraifoglu defeated Hawaii’s Rebecca Faltusz at No. 6 singles for the deciding point as the host No. 61 San Diego women’s tennis team rallied past Hawaii 4-3 on Saturday. The Toreros (2-2) won the last two singles matches to beat the Rainbow Wahine (2-6). Paulina Petriskova was the only Hawaii player to win at both singles and doubles.
HPU sweeps Northwest Nazarene
James Carraway singled home Shannon White in the bottom of the 11th inning to help the Hawaii Pacific baseball team beat Northwest Nazarene 3-2 on Saturday at Hans L’Orange Park. HPU beat Northwest Nazarene 12-1 in the first game of the doubleheader. Ryan Torres-Torioka drove in three runs for the Sea Warriors (4-0).
Hawaii Hilo softball team wins 2 in Vegas
Rebecca Lee went 2-for-2 with two doubles and two RBIs to help the Hawaii Hilo softball team beat Minot State 8-2 on Saturday at the Desert Stinger in Las Vegas. Lee later homered and drove in four runs in a 14-6 win over Fort Lewis.
The Vulcans are 4-4.
