Driver arrested in man’s death
A 25-year-old Ewa Beach woman was arrested Wednesday in connection with the death of a 77-year-old man who hit by a truck while crossing Fort Weaver Road in a crosswalk last year.
The suspect, who was driving, was arrested on suspicion of negligent injury and of not having a driver’s license a year ago, on Jan. 16, 2012, and then released pending further investigation.
The pedestrian, an Ewa Beach resident, was taken in critical condition to the Queen’s Medical Center, where he died Feb. 10.
According to police, the man was crossing Fort Weaver Road near the Kilaha Street intersection when he was struck by the vehicle.
Search fails to find fisherman
The Hawaii Fire Department suspended the search for a missing 67-year-old fisherman Thursday after the fourth day of searching the ocean near South Point turned up nothing.
The man disappeared Sunday night after falling 20 feet off a cliff.
