The remnants of Tropical Storm Fausto, which dissipated as it entered the Central Pacific last week, is also bringing humid weather to Oahu Monday, with highs from 84 to 89 degrees, weather service forecasters said. There is a 70 percent chance of rain in Honolulu and southern shores of Oahu on Monday night, they said.

Showers will mostly fall on windward and mauka areas, but some rain may make it over the mountains to leeward areas.

The moisture from Fausto is expected to linger over the islands into Wednesday.

Hilo broke a record for daily rainfall with 4.34 inches falling on Sunday, breaking the previous record for July 13 of 1.89 inches set in 1991.

Sunday’s storms prompted flash flood warnings and advisories, which expired early Monday morning on Hawaii island. In the 24-hour period ending at 5 a.m., Saddle Quarry received nearly 7.5 inches of rain, Keaumo got nearly 6 inches and about 4.7 inches fell at Kulani. Laupahoehoe and Hakalau received from 4 to 5 inches of rain.

The moist air associated with Fausto should clear the state by midweek, but another system could move in on Friday, bringing more wet weather, forecasters said.
