Some great football on the agenda
OK, sports fans, stock up on the pizzas, brewskis and munchies: Sunday will feature the NFL season’s last four teams standing, and both games promise great football.
First comes the AFC championship: the Denver Broncos versus the New England Patriots, at 10 a.m. on CBS. Then, perhaps even more exciting for Hawaii and West Coast fans, the NFC title game: the Seattle Seahawks versus the San Francisco 49ers at 1:30 p.m. on Fox.
Of course, this is just a dry run toward the Feb. 2
Super Bowl — which’ll be even more super if your team makes it all the way.
Former UH Warriors in all-stars game
Meanwhile, in other sports/football news, two games today are worth mentioning: the East-West Shrine Game and the NFLPA Collegiate Bowl.
The latter will feature two University of Hawaii players who recently completed their NCAA eligibility — quarterback Sean Schroeder and wide receiver Chris Gant, who was Schroeder’s favorite throwing target.
Their individual records clearly were impressive, but Schroeder credited UH Coach Norm Chow, who has connections in the NFL, for helping them get into the game.
The East-West Shrine Game starts at 11 a.m. on the NFL Network; the NFLPA Collegiate Bowl starts at 1 p.m. on ESPN2. Go Rainbow Warriors!
