Tour helicopter makes hard landing on Maui
A Sunshine Helicopters aircraft was forced to make a hard landing on Tuesday morning in a pasture near Waihee because of a mechanical problem, Maui fire officials said.
A couple from Bellevue, Ill., was on board the helicopter along with their four teenage daughters and the pilot, but were not injured.
Firefighters responded to the 9:51 a.m. alarm in the Kapuna area north of Waihee Stream and said the pilot and passengers did not require medical attention.
On its website Sunshine Helicopters says it offers helicopter tours and sightseeing tours of Maui, Molokai, Hawaii Big Island, Kauai, Grand Canyon and Las Vegas.
