When starting your family, you work very hard to provide a home for them to live, grow and prosper in. So, deciding on the best company to help build your dream home can be an arduous and particular process. For the Dunaways, this was extra difficult, being a family that researched and weighed their options for everything with the determination of giving their family all that they deserved. Dave Dunaway

(father and husband) gave the example that he and his wife visited 13 preschools before deciding where to send their kids. Consequently, when it came to rebuilding their 1940s home, the Dunaways did their research, and then some.

“After our children, our home would be our next biggest investment,” Dunaway shares. “So, we went and received price quotes from 6 different design/building companies before choosing.”

The Dunaways continued their search only to be disappointed. “We went to seminars offered by design/build contractors and encountered companies that told us what would be good for us instead of how they can make our dreams a reality,” Dunaway laments.

Then, the family found Atlas Construction, a fourth generation family company with experience that offered their services at the right prices. The decision had been made, and as Dunaway explains, “In the end, we felt Atlas best fit our needs, budget and most of all, our personalities.”

For any family, rebuilding or renovating a home can be expensive. Atlas Construction works with families to create a building plan that is affordable and practical in the hopes of giving the family their dream house without costing them a fortune. Dunaway comments, “I’m a public school teacher, so you know,

I’m right above the poverty line.” He and his family needed a company that could work with their financial situation, and Atlas Construction did just that. “The first question they asked was probably the most important: ‘How much can you afford monthly?’” Dunaway explains.

“That question set up what kind of dream home we could afford. What’s the use of building a dream home if it will only be a financial burden on you and your family?”

With plans squared away, Atlas began their construction on the family’s Palolo abode, which had been termite-damaged and weathered over the years. It was important that this house would be strong for Dave, his wife, two kids and his mother, who had all been living in an unsafe and unsuitable house for years now. “Our original house was a three-bedroom, one-bath, 1,100 square foot home sitting on a 3,500 square foot sub-standard lot,” Dunaway shares.

The family was ready for a change, and despite the hassle of rebuilding, Dunaway remarks that his overall experience with Atlas Construction was completely “stress-free.”

Atlas Construction is not only incredibly affordable and accommodating to families’ needs, but it is most importantly determined to create a solid contractor-client relationship to ensure that there is trust and security throughout the building process. Atlas and its employees have prided themselves on building homes with nothing less than their best efforts, focusing on complete customer satisfaction. “I think their No. 1 quality and attribute is their genuine sincerity of building the customer a home they themselves would want and dream of having,” Dunaway confirms.

Still, we can agree that often times building plans are foiled by inevitable obstacles; such is the way of life. Atlas Construction recognizes that there will be hiccups in the building process and promises to keep families aware of any obstacles while taking full responsibility of any cost changes that arise due to unexpected complications.

Dunaway expressed enthusiasm when speaking of the efficiency and expertise shown by Atlas during the building process of his home. He says,

“Atlas was flexible and accommodating when meeting with us through every stage of the planning, building and the selection process of fixtures and options. They went above and beyond the role of a contractor when building my home, and I am so appreciative and grateful for their honesty, integrity and love for me and my family.”

For the skeptics and well-researched homeowners like the Dunaways, Atlas offers free consultations to sit down and discuss plans to fulfill a client’s needs and to paint a picture of their vision for their home. This company truly believes that, “Atlas Construction’s interest is one in the same as the homeowners.” The design team will meet with clients as many times as is needed before starting a project if that is what it takes.

The Dunaways are one example of a family that Atlas Construction has helped in making their dreams a reality. They can now rest in the security of knowing that their kids will grow up in the strong foundation of a home that was built with care and aloha. “I would recommend Atlas to anyone considering a home extension, renovation or complete building,” says Dunaway. “If anything, at least allow them to sit with you and talk. Yes, they are a business, but for me and my family, we call them friends first.”
