There is no tsunami threat to Hawaii after two strong earthquake struck between Samoa and Fiji Sunday morning, according to the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center.

The second quake happened at 7:15 a.m. Sunday in Hawaii.

The U.S. Geological Survey estimates the earthquake’s magnitude at 6.7. It was centered about 127 miles south southeast of Mata-Uta, Wallis and Futuna; 267 miles west southwest of Apia, Samoa and 348 miles east northeast of Lambasa, Fiji at a depth of about 6.2 miles.

Earlier, at about 5:52 a.m. Hawaii time, a magnitude 6.4 earthquake struck about 122 miles northwest of Hihifo, Tonga; 244 miles west southwest of Apia, Samoa and 372 miles east northeast of Lambasa, Fiji at a depth of about 6.2 miles.

The warning center said earthquakes of this size could produce local a tsunami, but do not pose a Pacific-wide threat.
