Manhunt continues for man who allegedly threw woman from cliff
Kauai police Thursday closed Kuhio Highway on the North Shore just north of Limahuli Gardens while the manhunt continues for the 37-year-old man suspected of throwing a Japanese tourist off a cliff near Kalalau Beach.
The 31-year-old Japanese visitor, who was thrown off a 15-foot cliff in Kalalau on Sunday, remains in critical condition at Wilcox Memorial Hospital. Police said the hiker was camping in Kalalau.
Police have posted a $1,000 reward for anyone who provides information resulting in the arrest of suspect Justin Wynn Klein.
The closure blocks roadway access to Kee Beach and the adjacent parking lots.
Access to the Kalalau Trail via the Kee Beach trailhead, the Na Pali Coast State Park and Haena State Park remain closed to the public until further notice.
The closures allow law enforcement to continue their search.
