Wilson leads by 4 shots at Mauna Lani
Dean Wilson shot a 5-under 67 in the second round of the Mauna Lani Resort Hawaii State Open golf tournament Saturday to open up a four-shot lead heading into today’s final round.
Wilson, a former PGA Tour player, was tied for the lead in the professional division with former University of Hawaii player TJ Kua after both shot 70 in the opening round Friday. But Wilson’s solid round left him alone atop the leaderboard at 7 under. Andrew Putnam (66) and Mack Duke (69) were tied for second place at 3 under. Meanwhile, Kua fell back to 2 under after a 72.
Other division leaders were Trent Norcross (championship), Kevin Hayashi (senior pro), Tracy Kitamura (A flight), Tamara Surtees (women’s pro-am) and Carl Ho (senior am).
