Former Hawaii long snapper Luke Ingram chose an agent, coming to agreement Friday with Wynn Silberman of the Morgan Advisory Group.
Ingram just completed his UH career and was twice honored as Hawaii’s special teams player of the year, in 2010 and 2012. The 6-foot-6, 260-pound Mililani graduate successfully handled every kicking-game snap for all 52 games of his four seasons.
Silberman said NFL teams are intrigued by the possibility of Ingram also playing tight end or defensive end.
"I’m kind of a hybrid player because of my size. Some guys you see them and they’re just a snapper," Ingram said. "Even if I don’t end up doing it in games I can help out in practice at other positions."
Silberman also represents Ingram’s brother Jake, who also played snapper at UH for four years and was picked in the sixth round of the 2009 draft by the New England Patriots. Former UH receiver Kealoha Pilares, who is in his second season with the Carolina Panthers, is another client.
"I met with some other agents, but after five minutes I knew Wynn was a straight shooter," Luke Ingram said. "I’m my brother’s biggest fan and I trust his judgment, but this was something where I definitely wanted to make my own decision."
Said Silberman: "We are overjoyed to be working with the best long snapper in the country. Luke has incredible potential as an NFL player. Our previous experience with Jake and the rest of the Ingram family only adds to that sentiment."
Punter Alex Dunnachie and cornerback/kick returner Mike Edwards are UH’s other noteworthy pro prospects, although Edwards has not said whether he will return to UH for his senior season.
