Work on the H-1 freeway will close some but not all Koko Head-bound lanes overnight from near Likelike Highway to Ward Avenue, state transportation officials said Friday.
The partial closure is scheduled for midnight Friday to 8 a.m. Saturday and will continue from midnight Saturday to 8 a.m. Sunday and also involve closing on- and offramps to the freeway, according to a state Department of Transportation news release.
The state had planned to close all Koko Head-bound lanes but opted for a partial closure due to "significant progress made overnight," the news release said.
The Liliha Street and Pali Highway freeway onramps will be closed during the work period, along with the Pali, Punchbowl Street and Kinau Street offramps.
DOT officials had hoped to wrap up work on this phase of the project Thursday. However, recent rain delayed some of the work, which they’ve chosen to complete overnight this weekend.
In the westbound direction, three right lanes of the H-1 will be closed between the Kaamilo Street overpass and the Pearl City/Waimalu offramp between 4:30 a.m. and noon Sunday.
During that period, two right lanes will be closed between the Pearl City/ Waimalu and Waipahu offramps.
