Wilson, Kua share Hawaii State Open lead
Former PGA Tour pro Dean Wilson and T.J. Kua each shot 2-under 70 to share the lead after the first round of the Hawaii State Open at the Mauna Lani Resort on Friday.
Jaime Gomez is alone in third after a 1-under 71, followed by Mack Duke (72), with Jeff Coston and Nick Mason both at 73, in the professional flight.
John Oda and Trent Norcross share the lead at 74 in the Championship flight, one shot ahead of Dalen Yamauchi and Kala Kaaihue.
Kevin Hayashi (71) leads the Senior-Pro and Ayaka Kaneko and Tamara Surtees share the women’s pro/am lead at 3-over 75.
Cedarville takes 2 from local teams
Brian Grant scored 13 points to lead Cedarville (Ohio) to a 74-65 victory over Chaminade at McCabe Gym on Friday.
Benny Murray led the Silverswords (3-6) with 14 points.
