Suspect in repeat robberies at Don Quijote charged

Prosecutors charged a 26-year-old Kaneohe man who allegedly tried to rob the Don Quijote store in Waipahu twice this week

Corey Taum was charged Friday with two counts of first-degree robbery, first-degree unauthorized entry into a motor vehicle, two counts each for place to keep a weapon and use of a firearm, and failure to register a firearm.

On Monday, Taum allegedly pulled a handgun on a security guard at the store and left without paying for merchandise.

When he allegedly tried to do the same Wednesday night, the same security guard recognized him as he tried to leave the store without paying for liquor, again while brandishing a handgun.

Taum allegedly fled in a stolen black pickup truck; police found him a few blocks away. The driver of the truck remained at large Friday night.
