High surf advisory issued for north-facing shores
A high surf advisory for north shores on all islands is in effect until 6 p.m. Thursday, with wave heights expected to reach 10 to 15 feet.
The National Weather Service issued the advisory at about 3:30 p.m. due to the combination of swells from the north and northwest that can produce hazardous surf.
Swimmers should expect strong breaking waves and dangerous rip currents, the weather service said.
