Hawaii coaches headline QB Club slate
University of Hawaii coaches Carmyn James, Mike Brown and Anita Rossing will be the guest speakers at the Honolulu Quarterback Club’s first luncheon of the year Monday at the Maple Garden restaurant.
James, now in her 15th season as head coach of the Rainbow Wahine track and field and cross country programs, will discuss the Pole Vault Summit scheduled for Friday and Saturday in Reno, Nev., and will introduce new assistants Josh Aydlette (throws) and Tim Boyce (distance).
Men’s and women’s head diving coach Brown, who has been coaching college divers for 33 years, and Rossing, his wife and assistant, are in their 15th year together at UH. The coaches will recount the teams’ recent meet against Minnesota and their performances at the Hawaii Diving Invitational.
The Honolulu Quarterback Club is celebrating 69 years of recognizing Hawaii sports and their figures of interest. The restaurant is located at 909 Isenberg St. Lunch will be served at 11:30 a.m., followed by the program at noon — both are open to the public. The cost is $15 per person for members and guests.
