Warriors, Vulcans both trail by 8 strokes

Hawaii and Hawaii Hilo are both eight shots off the lead after the first round of the Amer Ari Invitational golf tournament Thursday at the Waikoloa Kings Course.

Third-ranked Oklahoma State leads the 20-team event with a 17-under-par 271. Texas Christian is second at 272, followed by Southern Cal (273) and Texas and Auburn, both at 274.

Oregon’s Thomas Lim is the individual leader with an 8-under 64, with Southern Cal’s Rico Hoey second at 65.

Sophomore Scotty Yamashita had a 68 to lead the ‘Bows.
