Firefighters put out Wahiawa brush fire
Firefighters battled a small brush fire Sunday afternoon in Wahiawa near the site of a 75-acre blaze two weeks ago, a Fire Department spokesman said.
The fire was under control around 2:10 p.m., roughly 10 minutes after it was reported, Capt. Robert Main said. It flared up near Kamehameha Highway and Whitmore Avenue by the Kukaniloko Birthing Stones.
At least 75 acres of agriculture land in the area was scorched by an overnight brush fire that started just before 9 p.m. Nov. 26. More than 62 city and federal firefighters worked to contain that blaze.
