Small brushfire is under control in Wahiawa
Firefighters battled a small brush fire this afternoon in Wahiawa near where a 75-acre blaze burned two weeks ago, a Fire Department spokesman said.
The fire was under control around 2:10 p.m., roughly 10 minutes after it was reported, Capt. Robert Main said. It flared up near Kamehameha Highway & Whitmore Avenue, by the Kukaniloko Birthing Stones.
At least 75 acres of agriculture land in the area was scorched by an overnight brush fire that started just before 9 p.m. Nov. 26. More than 62 city and federal firefighters worked to contain that blaze.
Main said the department is unsure whether the two fires are related.
