Car runs over man, drags him 4 blocks
Homicide detectives opened a case of attempted murder after a 36-year-old man was run over in a Waianae parking lot and dragged four blocks Monday.
Police said the victim and a female companion were walking in the parking lot of Waimaha housing complex on McArthur Street at 6:45 a.m. when they were struck by a car.
The victim got lodged under the carriage of the car and was dragged for four blocks to Mill Street near Tamura Superette.
The suspect fled, but officers in the area know who he is, according to police reports.
The victim was taken in critical condition to the Queen’s Medical Center. The woman he was with was treated at Waianae Coast Comprehensive Health Center and released.
Snorkeler who died was Japanese visitor
The city Medical Examiner’s Office has identified the 65-year-old visitor who died after he was pulled from waters near the Kaneohe Sandbar on Saturday as Kiyoshi Kurimoto. He was from Shizuoka, Japan. An autopsy will be done.
The victim was part of an organized snorkeling group when he was taken from Kaneohe Bay to the hospital, where he died.
2-year-old boy almost drowns at pool in Kihei
A 2-year-old boy was reported in critical condition after nearly drowning at the Kihei Aquatic Center on Sunday afternoon.
According to Maui police, the child was discovered at the bottom of a pool by his aunt.
A lifeguard performed CPR on the boy, who was transported to Maui Memorial Medical Center.
The child was later flown to Oahu for further treatment.
