Seattle visitor dies after being found in ocean off Big Isle
A 53-year-old Seattle visitor died after he was found motionless in the ocean off Puako, Hawaii County police said.
At 9:35 a.m. Sunday, South Kohala officers responded to report of a male swimmer in distress at Wailea Beach. A kayaker had found the swimmer motionless in the water and had taken him to shore.
Efforts to revive the him with cardio-pulmonary resuscitation were unsuccessful. He was taken to Kona Community Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The victim was David Green Thompson.
An autopsy has been scheduled for Tuesday to determine the exact cause of death, police said.
