Shark warnings taken down at Pakala Beach
Warning signs at Pakala Beach on Kauai were removed Thursday after enforcement officers observed no sharks.
Signs were posted Wednesday after a 60-year-old Kalaheo man was attacked by a shark while surfing at a break called Pakala’s.
The surfer suffered a shark bite to his left foot. He was released from Kauai Veterans Memorial Hospital after treatment Wednesday night.
The fish, described to be about 10 feet long, was likely a tiger shark.
