U.S. vs. Brazil in volleyball at Stan Sheriff Center
The top-ranked Brazil and No. 2 U.S. women’s national teams will compete in the USA Volleyball Cup this July, including two matches at the Stan Sheriff Center.
The Honolulu matches are scheduled for 7 p.m. on July 11 and 12. The other matches are July 5 at the Bren Events Center at UC Irvine, and July 6 at USC’s Galen Center. Tickets will go on sale later this month.
The U.S. won the inaugural Cup last summer, going 3-0 against Japan. The last time Brazil played in the U.S. was in 2009 en route to winning the Pan America Cup in Miami.
Porlier-Langlois captures Big West silver medal
Hawaii junior Alex Porlier-Langlois threw the shot put 14.86 meters to win the silver medal at the Big West Conference track and field championships on Saturday at UC Davis’ Toomey Field & Woody Wilson Track.
UH finished in ninth place with 42.83 points, while host UC Davis clinched the Big West title with 194 points.
Porlier-Langlois earned the Rainbow Wahine’s lone medal during the two-day individual competition and will compete in both the discus and shot put in the NCAA West preliminary round.
