Homicide detectives have opened an attempted murder case after a 36-year-old man was run over in a Waianae parking lot and dragged four blocks Monday.

Police said the victim and a female companion were walking in the parking lot of Waimaha housing complex on McArthur street at 6:45 a.m. when they were struck by a car.

The victim got lodged under the carriage of the car and was dragged for four blocks to Mill street near Tamura Superette.

The suspect fled, but police in the area know who he is, according to police reports.

The victim was taken in critical condition to Queen’s Medical Center. The woman he was with was taken to Waianae Coast Comprehensive Health Center, where she was treated and released.
