Wet weather to continue into Tuesday

Rainy weather with snow on Big Island summits is expected to continue into Tuesday, followed by vog and muggy Kona weather, and, finally, the return of cooling trade winds on Thursday.
A flash flood watch was extended until 6 a.m. on Tuesday for parts of Kauai and Niihau, where forecasters are predicting the possibility of heavy rainfall. The ground on Kauai is saturated from earlier rains, and a heavy downpour on Monday night could cause more flooding.
A winter weather advisory has been extended to 6 a.m. on Tuesday for the summits of Mauna Kea and Mauna Loa on the Big Island, which could see up to 3 inches of snow and sleet with wind gusts of up to 35 mph.
Other islands can expect widespread light rain and gusty Kona winds. The rainy weather is forecast to continue, but rains should ease by Wednesday, when the sun is expected to peek out through the clouds.
Vog will stick around until the tradewinds return, possibly on Thursday.
