Jimmy Walker looks at the championship trophy after winning the Sony Open golf tournament at Waialae Country Club today.

Jimmy Walker fired a bogey-free, final-round 63 to win his second event of the new wraparound PGA Tour season with a four-day total of 17-under 263.

The 34-year-old San Antonio resident won by one shot over Chris Kirk (66–264) and by two over 2002 Sony Open champion Jerry Kelly (65–265). Walker needed 188 tournaments to get his first win at the Frys.com event in October; the opening tournament of the new 2013-14 tour season.

And now, just seven events later, he gets his second in the first full-field tourney of 2014.

“It feels great,” Walker said after Kirk missed his chip for eagle to force a playoff. “I learned so much in that first win. I used that knowledge on the back nine today. I figured if I didn’t have any bogeys, I could win.”

Kirk rolled in his birdie putt at the last to finish alone in second. The putt was worth about $110,000 had he missed it and tied with Kelly for second.

World No. 2 Adam Scott made some noise early in the round to finish tied for eighth. He will take a six-week break before rejoining the tour in Florida.
