President Barack Obama and the rest of the first family spent a third consecutive day lounging at the beach on Saturday.

The family spent about four hours at Bellows Air Force Station with friends, enjoying clear skies and calm waters as onlookers waved and flashed shaka signs to get their attention.

The president is proving to be a vacationer of habit on his seventh holiday trip to Oahu. In addition to his beach days, the president has also enjoyed several days of golf with White House staffers and friends from his days at Punahou School, who join him each holiday.

On Saturday evening, the first family returned to a favorite dining spot — Alan Wong’s restaurant on South King Street in McCully.

As a White House pool report noted, a pair of Secret Service agents stood on a low roof next to the restaurant while other agents in aloha shirts stood watch.

The first family arrived at the restaurant around 6:10 p.m. and left about 9:15 p.m.

White House spokesman Eric Schultz confirmed that the president was briefed on the disappearance of Air­Asia Flight 8501.

Schultz said White House officials continue to monitor the situation.

The president arrived in Hawaii on Dec. 19. He and the rest of the first family are expected to remain here through the start of the new year.
