Vehicle strikes, seriously injures woman
A 65-year-old woman was seriously injured Saturday morning after she was struck by a vehicle in the Kapalama area, according to an Emergency Medical Services report.
Paramedics said the incident happened just before 7 a.m. near Alewa Drive and Wyllie Street. The woman was treated at the scene and transported to a trauma center in serious condition.
Leap into Naohia Falls pool requires rescue
A 26-year-old woman seriously injured herself Saturday jumping into the pool below Naohia Falls, commonly called the Kalihi Ice Ponds, according to an Emergency medical Services report.
The woman allegedly jumped from about 15 feet into the water below and had to be rescued by the Honolulu Fire Department just before noon, paramedics said. She was transported to a trauma center in serious condition.
Homeless man arrested for alleged threats
Police arrested a 43-year-old homeless man Friday morning after he allegedly threatened two men with a knife in November in Makiki, according to police records.
A 36-year-old man and a 24-year-old man told police they were threatened during the course of a domestic argument around 10 p.m. on Nov. 13, according to police records.
Police arrested the suspect around 10:25 a.m. Friday in the Punchbowl area on suspicion of two counts of terroristic threatening.
Hikers safe after spending night on ridge
Two men and a woman were forced to spend the night on a ridge behind Tripler Army Medical Center.
Capt. James Todd, Honolulu Fire Department spokesman, said the hikers used a cellphone to call for help at 6:45 p.m. Thursday when they realized they were in trouble and couldn’t get down from the Moanalua Ridge Trail behind the hospital.
Two fire rescue personnel were dropped by the department’s helicopter on a ridge near the stranded hikers after the search resumed at 6:30 a.m. Friday. Temperatures at Tripler Army Medical Center dipped into the mid-60s overnight.
The rescue personnel escorted the hikers to an area where the helicopter airlifted them to the Army hospital’s landing zone at 9:45 a.m.
No injuries were reported.
Police nab 2 suspected card, ID thieves
Police arrested a 34-year-old man Friday evening on suspicion of using a stolen credit card earlier that day at a Kalihi business, according to police records.
Police said store personnel stopped the man after he used a credit card that did not belong to him, and that he was also found to be in possession of someone else’s personal confidential information without that person’s permission.
The man was arrested just before 5 p.m. on suspicion of unauthorized possession of personal information, according to police records.
Also on Friday, police arrested a 34-year-old Kapahulu man just before 5 p.m. on Alakawa Street in downtown Honolulu on suspicion of fraudulent use of a credit card, having unauthorized personal information and ID theft, according to police records.
Teenager accused of assaulting worker
A 14-year-old girl allegedly assaulted a 36-year-old educational worker Friday evening at the Leeward Educational Facility, police said.
The incident occurred around 5:15 p.m., and the girl was arrested on suspicion of second-degree assault about 50 minutes later, according to police records. She was released pending an investigation.
