NEW YEAR’S EVE AT CASA DI ALLIATA
1. Princess Dialta Alliata di Montereale, center, welcomed Liz Kawananakoa and Peter Rockford Espiritu to the Alliata family New Year’s Eve party at her residence in Makiki Heights. Guests counted down the final three hours of 2013 with plates piled high with items from an international buffet, enjoyed assorted beverages and danced to electronic music programmed by Kawananakoa’s son, deejay Kincade Kawananakoa. As the final seconds of 2013 ticked away, Dialta gave each guest a plate and told them to make a wish and throw the plate down the flight of stairs at one end of the upper terrace. If the plate broke, the wish would come true. Each guest also received a copy of Dialta’s fascinating family memoir, “My Mother, My Father and His Wife Hortense,” as a memento of the evening.
